Commercial Finance Manager – JD‑UK
Responsible to: Senior Commercial Finance Manager JD‑UK
Department: Finance
Location: JD Group Head Office, Bury, BL9 8RR
Responsibilities
All budgeting, forecasting and analysis for the JD‑UK entity.
Focus on store payroll to enable the retail team to manage efficiency and drive cost savings.
Act as key liaison to understand trends and future projections and support ad‑hoc requests to provide insight to field‑based teams.
Sales forecasting and budgeting in collaboration with retail teams.
Payroll forecasting and budgeting aligned with the established headcount model.
Presentation of forecast and budgets, highlighting risks and opportunities to plan.
Regular sales analysis and reporting – providing insight into underlying key drivers of performance.
Regular payroll analysis and reporting – providing insight into variance and supporting improvement.
Ensure the integrity of time and attendance systems and associated reporting, including implementation of new systems.
Analyze and provide insight across all store operating costs, converting information into efficiencies and working with other departments to achieve them.
Analyse central operating overheads, developing benchmarks for efficiency.
Long‑term growth forecasting and analysis to support the Group’s strategic growth plans.
Quickly develop and deliver new analysis to help stakeholders understand changes in the business environment.
Input into cash‑flow forecasting process.
Support the Property Finance team on new store investment appraisals.
Support the Reporting team in delivering clear and robust reporting and analysis.
Understand commercial retail context to review store and digital operational performance.
Work effectively with stakeholders across different levels and functions within the business.
Qualifications & Skills
CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified accountant – 2 years PQE essential.
Previous management experience essential.
Experience influencing multiple senior stakeholders, both financial and non‑financial.
Advanced Excel skills; TM1 experience an advantage.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
