Commercial Gas Engineer – Fantastic Career Opportunity\n\nLocation: Hertfordshire & Surrounding Areas (with occasional London travel)\nSalary: £42,000 – £48,000 (DOE) + Standby + Call-Outs + Excellent Overtime\nHours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00\nEmployment Type: Full-time, Permanent\n\nOverview\n\nOur client, a respected and long-established building engineering services provider, is expanding their commercial gas team and seeking an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join them. You’ll benefit from in-house training, excellent technical support, and clear progression pathways—making it an ideal role for someone looking to take the next step in their commercial gas career.\n\nThe Role\n\nWorking across a variety of sites—including schools, commercial offices, residential buildings and other facilities—you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, diagnostics and repair of commercial boilers and associated plant.\n\nYou will also support installation projects, including testing, commissioning, and completing all required documentation to regulatory standards.
Engineers will provide technical guidance to clients on-site and participate in an on-call rota approximately one week in ten.\n\nYou’ll be joining an experienced, supportive engineering team that prides itself on delivering excellent customer service and high-quality work.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCarry out planned preventative maintenance, annual servicing and responsive repairs\n\nDiagnose faults and ensure systems meet current legislation and safety standards\n\nPerform testing and inspections, ensuring accurate digital records are completed\n\nInstall new commercial gas equipment and commission systems to the required specification\n\nRepair or replace defective equipment, identifying and ordering required parts\n\nMaintain regular communication with the Operations Manager and office team\n\nProvide excellent customer service and act as a knowledgeable point of contact onsite\n\nMaintain accurate documentation, including measurements, calculations, and job reports\n\nParticipate in the on-call rota (approx. 1 week in 10)\n\nRequirements\n\nMinimum 3 years’ experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer\n\nACS Commercial Gas qualifications (CODNCO1, COCN1, ICPN1, CIGA1, CORT1, CDGA1) – Essential\n\nDomestic ACS qualifications – Advantageous\n\nRelevant Level 2/3 Gas Engineering qualifications (NVQ / City & Guilds)\n\nStrong understanding of current gas regulations\n\nGood IT skills (PDA / digital compliance systems)\n\nStrong communication, organisation, and problem-solving abilities\n\nAble to work independently with a proactive attitude\n\nClean UK driving licence\n\nClean DBS\n\nBenefits & Package\n\n£42,000 – £48,000 basic salary\n\nStandby fees + additional call-out payments\n\nSubstantial overtime available (excellent earning potential)\n\n40-hour working week, Monday–Friday\n\n24 days holiday + bank holidays (increases with length of service)\n\nFully serviced company van + fuel card\n\nCompany phone/tablet and full uniform\n\nComplete tool kit provided\n\nCompany pension\n\nEmployee Assistance Programme (mental health support, counselling etc.)\n\nAnnual performance reviews\n\nAdditional perks, benefits and discount schemes\n\nThis is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer looking for stability, progression, and a company that genuinely invests in its staff
