Job Title: Commercial Gas Engineer (Mechanical Bias)
Location: London and Surrounding Areas
Role: Commercial Gas Engineer / Mechanical Plant Engineer (Junior/Improver or minimal experience)
Are you a Mechanical Engineer or Plumber currently transitioning into Commercial Gas?
We are recruiting for a Commercial Gas Engineer with a strong mechanical background to join a leading facilities management provider. This is a rare opportunity for an engineer who is in the process of obtaining their Commercial Gas tickets (or has recently qualified) to gain the hands-on experience needed to become a fully fully-fledged technician.
If you have a solid history in Mechanical Plant, Plumbing, or Heating and are looking to bridge the gap between domestic and commercial gas, this is the role for you.
Details
As a Commercial Gas Engineer (Mechanical Bias), you will work on a mobile basis across London, servicing offices, hospitals, and mixed-use commercial buildings. Because the client understands you may still be training for your Commercial ACS, your initial focus will be on the mechanical side of the plant room.
Your responsibilities will include:
*
Mechanical Plant Maintenance: Servicing pumps, valves, calorifiers, pressurisation units, and associated pipework.
*
Commercial Heating: Fault-finding on wet systems, radiators, and heating circuits.
*
Gas Compliance: Once you have your Commercial Gas tickets (e.g., COCN1 / CODCN1), you will service gas-fired appliances and boilers under the guidance of the team.
*
General Maintenance: Safety checks and plant room inspections.
The Candidate
To be considered for this Commercial Gas Engineer position, you do not need years of commercial experience, but you must be mechanically competent.
Essential Requirements:
*
Mechanical Skills: Strong background in Plumbing, Heating, or Mechanical Plant (NVQ Level 2/3 preferable).
*
Gas Qualifications: You must hold Domestic Gas (CCN1) AND be currently working towards or holding Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, etc.).
*
Experience: Previous experience working in commercial plant rooms is highly preferred.
*
Full UK Driving Licence.
The Package
*
Development: Structured support to transition you into a experienced and confident Commercial Gas Engineer.
*
Vehicle: Company van, fuel card, tools, and PPE provided.
*
Benefits: 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays, pension, life cover, and private medical (post-probation).
