Job Description

This is a Commercial Counsel role within a large, international professional services business, supporting operations across the UK and Europe.

You’ll join a well-established in-house legal function and work closely with the business to deliver pragmatic, commercially focused legal support across a broad range of matters.


The Role

This is a broad commercial contracts role with exposure to a wide range of legal areas, including technology, data privacy, and insurance-related agreements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising the business on a wide range of commercial legal matters
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including supplier, client and partnership contracts
  • Supporting on IT and technology agreements (including SaaS and software licensing)
  • Advising on data protection, privacy and information security matters (UK & EU GDPR)
  • Supporting insurance-related agreements and documentation where required
  • Advising on marketing, IP and general business law issues
  • Delivering training and supporting the development of internal policies and processes
  • Working closely with stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions
  • Supporting general legal queries arising across the business


Team & Structure

  • Part of a broader Legal, Risk & Compliance function
  • Reporting into the Head of Commercial Legal (UK & Europe)
  • Collaborative team environment with opportunities to contribute to process improvement and internal initiatives


Candidate Profile

  • UK-qualified lawyer
  • Approx. 1–4 PQE (flexible)
  • Background in private practice and/or in-house within a commercial legal team


Key skills:

  • Strong grounding in commercial contracts
  • Understanding of data privacy and technology-related agreements
  • Commercial awareness and pragmatic approach
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Ability to engage confidently with stakeholders across the business


Desirable:

  • Insurance or financial services exposure
  • Experience with IP, data protection or cross-border matters
