Job Description:

As part of a global team of learning professionals and SMEs, the role of Commercial Learning Advisor focuses on learning design, organisation and coordination of learning delivery, marketing of learning opportunities, and maximising data to help manage the development of key learning cohorts of commercial staff such as potential traders, originators and business developers across bp.

The role is expected to work with key business stakeholders to help identify skill gaps and opportunities, helping to set strategic direction and recommending key interventions and improvements, ensuring the organisation remains competitive.

This global role requiring strong collaboration with senior leaders in business areas and across HR teams. It is critical for ensuring the organization remains competitive by developing a workforce equipped with the skills vital to drive performance and meet future business challenges.

This role is responsible for driving the development, coordination and execution of learning, skills management strategies and interventions, and programmes that align with bp’s business and talent goals.

Required qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in learning psychology, organizational development, education, or related field.

or

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Economics, Trading, Data Science, Data Management, Statistics, Downstream/Upstream commercial activity, or a related field.

Experience

Proven experience in complex organizations, specifically Talent, skills management, performance management or workforce planning in large matrix organizations or applicable industry experience.

Proven experience working in a commercial role is desirable, ideally on a trading floor or in a finance or business development context.

Demonstrated ability advising, coaching, and influencing senior executives preferred.

Experience working with data, in database design, data visualisation and interpretation and/or statistical inference, is desirable. Experience with the Office 365 suite, particularly SharePoint and PowerBI, is desirable.

Proven ability to work well in cross functional and global teams to deliver excellent learning & skills solutions with a culture of continuous improvement.

Technical

Technical expertise in trading, origination, analytics or commercial operations is preferred.

Ideally, has conducted skills gap analyses and develops tailored capability-building roadmaps.

Has designed and implemented learning solutions within large complex organizations, with demonstrated increase in learner satisfaction and measurable skill improvement.

Defined key performance indicators (critical metrics) for learning initiatives and tracks impact, demonstrating improvement in application of skills on the job.

Demonstrated development and execution of data-driven learning engagement campaigns, increasing learner participation by through targeted communication strategies.

Has demonstrated continual use of people, HR and learning analytics tools to track workforce capability trends, providing insights that influence learning and development decisions.

Regular ongoing exposure to standard learning infrastructure commonly deployed in large organisations, such as Degreed and/or Cornerstone, is desirable.

Experience with database design, data visualisation tools (such as PowerBI), statistical inference is desirable. Coding experience in Python is also desirable but not required.

Understands current trends in skills and learning, technology, and the role of AI in impactful learning solutions.

Behavioural

Applies structured problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve sophisticated learning and development challenges that have financial impact.

Has been responsible for innovative learning solutions within a corporate environment that improve engagement scores across a skill area or department.

Has designed learning solutions in partnership with stakeholders within a corporate setting, deeply understanding core needs and demonstrating the business impact of learning interventions.

Implements practices that enhance team psychological safety in global teams within the learning and development context.

Supports delivery through agile methodology and tools. Demonstrates commitment to their own development and continual learning, championing knowledge-sharing initiatives beyond their own work portfolio.
