Job Description
Commissioning Chemistry Engineer - Bridgwater, UK
About the Role
Looking to apply your engineering skills to one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects? As a Commissioning Chemistry Engineer at Hinkley Point C, you’ll play a vital role in bringing new nuclear reactors online, combining your technical know-how with a working understanding of chemistry to help deliver safe, low-carbon energy for millions.
If you're ready to be part of something big, this is your opportunity.
This role requires you to be on site at our Bristol Aztec West office 3 days a week, 1 day a week on site, and 1 day a week working from home.
The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new series of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes. This is your chance to be part of a pioneering team leading the UK’s nuclear renaissance.
You’ll join the Commissioning Chemistry Team, supporting the delivery of chemistry commissioning activities and helping to set the standard for future projects.
Reporting to the Commissioning Chemistry Lead, you’ll play a key role in shaping the team’s growth and success over the coming years.
You don’t need to be a chemistry expert, just someone with a solid engineering foundation, an understanding of chemistry, a willingness to learn, and the ability to apply technical thinking to complex challenges. Tailored training will support your development, and you’ll be part of a collaborative, inclusive environment where your ideas and expertise will help drive innovation and excellence in chemistry commissioning.
Pay, Benefits & Culture
The salary range associated with this role is competitive, reflecting your skills and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a company pension scheme and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle.
Our benefits include enhanced parental leave, electric vehicle leasing, health insurance, product discounts, critical illness insurance, technology vouchers, gym memberships, and season ticket loans.
At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility and support collaboration, connection, and comfort whether you’re in the office, on site, or working remotely. Our priority is to ensure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
We’re committed to equity, social mobility, and creating an inclusive environment that values diverse backgrounds and experiences. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are happy to provide reasonable adjustments during the application process.
We believe success means different things to different people and support your pursuit of a career that’s meaningful to you.
What You’ll Be Doing

- Influencing system performance and safety, contributing to project success.
- Supporting various workstreams, from integrating chemistry into commissioning processes to advising on chemical safety.
- Collaborating with engineering teams, interpreting technical documentation, and resolving operational challenges.

Who You Are
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a STEM discipline, with experience in safety-conscious, quality-driven environments.
- Technically minded, data-interpreting, and confident decision-maker.
- Basic understanding of chemical principles, eager to learn more.
- Experience in commissioning, plant operations, or large-scale infrastructure projects is a plus.
- Familiarity with nuclear systems or regulatory environments is beneficial.
- Chartered or working towards it, with strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
