Commissioning Engineer

New Today

Ever thought about a role where you travel, work on machines and pick up new skills on the job?
This role is for engineers who already install, commission and service equipment but want to get more experience with PLCs and programming.
You’ll join a small team in a business that has grown from £2 million to £20 million. The commissioning function is still expanding, so there’s room to get involved and learn new skills as the team develops.
Your time will be split between the workshop in Nelson and customer sites. You’ll commission machines before they ship and then travel to make sure they run smoothly on site. You’ll focus on fault finding, reading inputs and outputs and understanding how the systems behave. UK visits are usually short and overseas projects last a couple of weeks, with plenty of notice.
You don’t need to be confident with PLC programming. If any changes are needed, a software engineer will handle it. Over time, you can learn PLC programming and take on more technical work if that’s the path you want to follow. Support will be there as you develop.
You’ll need a solid mechanical and electrical background, a practical approach and the confidence to work on your own when needed. Experience with pneumatics or production environments like food, pharma or packaging is essential.
