Job Description
We are currently representing a specialist, independent project consultancy delivering complex M&E and infrastructure works across the built environment. Known for being agile, hands-on and delivery-focused, they support clients on technically challenging projects where clear leadership, accountability, and real-world commissioning experience are essential.\n\nDue to ongoing workload across Central London, they are looking to engage an experienced Commissioning Engineer or Commissioning Manager on a long-term day-rate basis, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a strong Commissioning Engineer who is ready to take the next step into a Commissioning Manager role.\n\nThe Role\n\nThis is a hands-on commissioning role suited to a self-sufficient professional who is comfortable operating in complex, live environments and coordinating across multiple stakeholders.\n\nYou will take ownership of commissioning activities from planning through to handover, ensuring systems are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with programme requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Developing and managing commissioning plans, strategies, and programmes\n\n * \n\n Coordinating commissioning activities with project teams, contractors, M&E specialists and end clients\n\n * \n\n Managing commissioning schedules and ensuring works align with overall programme\n\n * \n\n Witnessing, testing and validating systems in line with project requirements\n\n * \n\n Managing commissioning documentation including test scripts, results, certification and close-out packs\n\n * \n\n Identifying and resolving commissioning, integration, and performance issues\n\n * \n\n Supporting handover, training and final close-out activities\n\n * \n\n Ensuring commissioning is delivered in line with H&S, quality, and compliance standards\n\nRequirements\n\n * \n\n Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer or Commissioning Manager\n\n * \n\n Strong background in M&E / building services / infrastructure environments\n\n * \n\n Confident working in complex, live environments (high-profile sites desirable)\n\n * \n\n Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams\n\n * \n\n Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of commissioning delivery\n\n * \n\n Strong attention to detail with documentation and compliance processes\n\n * \n\n Must have the right to work in the UK\n\nBenefits:\n\n * \n\n £350 – £400 per day (depending on experience)\n\n * \n\n Long-term contract with strong project pipeline\n\n * \n\n Permanent opportunity available for the right person\n\n * \n\n Site-based role in Central London\n\n * \n\n Immediate or short-notice start
