Job Title: Commissioning Manager\nLocation: St Albans, Hertfordshire\nSalary: £50,000 - £80,000\nBenefits: £5,000 car allowance, 25 days holiday, 5% Pension, Healthcare\nA trusted multi-disciplined provider of construction and refurbishment services across the UK are looking for a proactive and experienced Commissioning Manager to join their growing project team in St Albans.\nThey have a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, technically complex commercial projects particularly within live hospital environments, working closely with NHS Trusts and private healthcare providers to upgrade critical infrastructure with minimal disruption to operations.\nThe successful Commissioning Manager candidate will lead all aspects of commissioning for complex refurbishment and M&E upgrade projects, often within operational hospital settings. This Commissioning Manager role is key to ensuring systems are safe, compliant and fully operational before handover.\nAs the Commissioning Manager you will have the following responsibilities:\n * Develop, manage and implement commissioning plans for building services and specialist systems.\n * Oversee commissioning activities for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems in line with HTM, SFG20, and project-specific standards.\n * Coordinate with design teams, M&E subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure readiness for commissioning.\n * Lead commissioning meetings, witness testing, and manage snagging and defect resolution.\n * Ensure compliance with CDM, health & safety, and infection control protocols on live hospital sites.\n * Manage all commissioning documentation including pre-commissioning checklists, test sheets, O&M manuals, and certification.\n * Support integration of new systems into existing infrastructure without disrupting critical services.\n * Contribute to project handover and post-completion review.\nSuccessful Commissioning Manager applicants will have the following experience:\n * Proven experience in commissioning management, ideally with hospital or healthcare projects.\n * Strong knowledge of M&E systems and relevant guidance (e.g. HTMs, CIBSE, BSRIA).\n * Excellent planning, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.\n * Experience working in live/occupied environments with awareness of infection prevention and control.\n * Relevant qualifications in Building Services, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.\n * SMSTS, CSCS, and relevant health & safety training .\n * Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and the wider project team.\n * Communicate regularly with internal teams to ensure alignment across commercial and operational functions.\n * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites nationwide.\nPlease contact Adam Brown for more information about this role or if you are interested in a new Commissioning Manager position within the Building Services / Construction sector (M&E Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Manager, Senior Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Lead, Commissioning Project Manager, Head of Commissioning)\nCommissioning Manager
