Scottish Power Energy Networks are looking for a Community Manager to join them on a contract basis.


Job Title: Community Benefits Manager

Business: SP Energy Networks

Location: St Vincent Street Glasgow HQ/hybrid style working with regular travel to meet stakeholder groups

Duration: 6 month initial contract with scope of extension


Job Purpose Statement

  • Develop and own the company's Community Benefits Framework.
  • Develop and maintain processes for effective distribution of funding through robust and effective mechanisms.
  • Be a key liaison with the corporate support functions - know how to use these to maximise reputational benefit.
  • Develop approach which leverages current £5m SPT Net Zero Fund to full advantage, utilising clear examples of delivering impact.


Accountability Statements

  • Develop a Community Benefits proposal for the RIIO-T3 business plan period. Ensuring the plan has internal and external buy-in.
  • Develop a proposal in line with govt and regulator guidance, evidencing compliance and robust governance procedures.
  • Manage, co-ordinate and deliver our Community Benefit Framework across a broad and inclusive range of key stakeholders and local community groups.
  • Management, identification and delivery of stakeholders with the purpose of understanding priorities and reflecting in upcoming plans.
  • Drive an active engagement strategy leverage the market using technical expertise, stakeholder experience and communication skills to implement low carbon and innovation initiatives.
  • Develop appropriate stakeholder forums, meetings and special events that support outperformance of Community Benefit objectives.
  • Ensure that Community Benefits activity is maintained and actively recorded within agreed corporate systems
  • Develop and continually review stakeholder and customer mapping across SP Transmission to ensure engagement activity is targeted and inclusive.
  • Working in collaboration with the Central Stakeholder & Communications team, implement engagement strategies to ensure continual improvement in response to stakeholder and customer satisfaction research, analysis and feedback
  • Develop stakeholder and customer engagement plans that support the delivery of financial, regulatory and business plan objectives and optimise return through regulatory incentive mechanisms, integrating innovative solutions where appropriate.


Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven experience in a comparable managerial role
  • Excellent leadership, communication and inter-personal skills to motivate and influence managers and staff at all levels, with the ability to communicate complex subjects at all audience levels.
  • Experience developing and delivering written communications for both internal and external audiences
  • Ability to plan, organise and deliver internal / external engagement plan, ensuring that the plan maintains momentum and achieves objectives within tight deadlines.
  • Proven track record of effective stakeholder and customer engagement and management
  • Active management, development and delivery across a range of communication channels (intranet, website, webinars, events, printed materials, videos etc), that support our engagement in the delivery of strategic objectives.
  • Familiarity with data collection and analysis techniques.
  • Ability to effectively influence to deliver business strategic objectives
  • Ability to devise solutions to complex problems / challenges.
  • Must be a team player with a flexible attitude and good inter-personal skills
  • Availability to travel as required across the licence area and UK, when appropriate
  • Experience and knowledge of the UK utilities market and regulatory environment including Network Regulation - RIIO model.
  • Proven commercial awareness across the energy sector and understanding of key business drivers and context in which SP Energy Networks operates.
