We focus on the Oil & Gas, Renewables, Engineering, Power, and Nuclear markets as well as emerging technologies in EV, Battery, and Fusion. We are committed to ensuring that we offer the most exciting career opportunities from around the world for our jobseekers.
At Complii, we are on the lookout for a Compliance & Technical Director – Fire, to take single-point accountability for technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and fire risk governance across our fire businesses. This role is central to protecting life, safeguarding the organisation, and ensuring demonstrable due diligence for directors under current fire and building safety legislation.
If you thrive in senior technical leadership roles, are comfortable being the final authority on complex and high-risk decisions, and enjoy bringing clarity and control to technically challenging environments, this is a role where your influence will be immediate, visible, and business-critical.
You will operate independently of commercial and operational delivery, acting as the final technical authority across active fire systems, passive fire protection, mechanical smoke control, and Fire Risk Assessments. From day one, the focus is on strengthening governance, reducing regulatory and technical risk, and giving the board confidence that fire risk is being controlled robustly and consistently.
What you receive for joining us
We believe in rewarding accountability and expertise, which is why we offer an excellent salary and a performance related bonus. This includes a car allowance, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, an additional day off for your birthday, a collaborative and values-led working environment, and the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders who respect independent judgement, technical authority, and evidence-based decision making.
Here is a look at some of the things you will be doing
* Establishing, maintaining, and enforcing technical and compliance standards across all fire disciplines, ensuring alignment between fire strategies, design, installation, and ongoing maintenance
* Acting as the final escalation point for technical decisions, including approving or rejecting non-standard designs, product substitutions, high-risk FRAs, and value engineering proposals
* Leading organisational responses to regulators, Fire Authorities, insurers, and legal advisors, while ensuring the business can evidence compliance and due diligence at all times
* Providing clear board-level reporting on fire risk, incidents, audits, and compliance status, including leading investigations and mandating corrective actions
Can you show experience in some of these areas
* Senior technical leadership experience within fire safety, life safety, or the built environment, with strong working knowledge of UK fire and building safety legislation
* Experience operating as a technical authority across multiple disciplines or business units, including governance of FRAs, audits, and competency frameworks
* A confident, independent approach to managing technical and regulatory risk, with the credibility to challenge senior commercial and operational stakeholders
* Strong communication skills, sound professional judgement, and the ability to create clear, auditable technical decision trails
If you feel you have the experience and authority to lead fire compliance at a senior level, even if you don’t meet every requirement above, we’d still love to hear from you. Complii is a leading integrated provider of safety and regulatory compliance services across our water, air, fire, and electrical divisions, supporting organisations nationwide to operate safely, compliantly, and responsibly. This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to shape fire risk governance across the group and make a lasting, meaningful impact
