This role focuses on building and maintaining configuration-driven solutions that power enterprise-grade insurance SaaS platforms.You will translate business and functional requirements into structured JSON and YAML configurations, enabling dynamic forms, workflows and rule engines without heavy custom code. Working closely with business analysts, developers and QA teams, you will ensure that configuration changes are robust, governed and aligned to platform standards.Experience within the insurance domain is strongly preferred, particularly exposure to policy administration, underwriting, claims or insurance workflow systems.As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:Configure and manage JSON and YAML-based configurations for forms, rules and workflowsDefine dynamic UI forms, field validations and conditional logic using configuration filesImplement and maintain business rules within a configuration-driven platformTranslate business requirements into structured configuration artefactsCustomise application behaviour through configuration rather than code changesValidate, test and troubleshoot configuration changes across environmentsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate and scalable solutionsMaintain version control, documentation and governance of configuration assetsEnsure compliance with enterprise standards and best practiceQualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:3+ years of experience as a Configuration Engineer or similar roleStrong understanding of JSON and YAML syntax, structure and best practicesExperience configuring enterprise systems including forms, rules and workflowsAbility to translate business requirements into structured configuration logicUnderstanding of rule engines and workflow orchestrationExperience working in structured enterprise development environmentsFamiliarity with Agile or Scrum methodologiesStrong analytical, problem-solving and communication skillsEligible to work in the United KingdomPreferred ExperienceExperience working within the insurance domain, particularly insurance SaaS platformsUnderstanding of insurance data models, policy lifecycle, claims or underwriting processesExposure to low-code or configuration-driven platformsBasic knowledge of backend services or .NET for integration awarenessFamiliarity with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScriptExperience working in cloud-based environmentsAs part of a leading global Data and AI company, you can look forward to:A competitive salary with a generous bonus, private healthcare, critical illness life assurance at 4 x your annual salary, income protection insurance, and a rewarding pension.EXLprovides everyday financial well-being solutions, such as cash back cards, in which you can earn cashback while enjoying discounts, promotions, and offers from top retailers.
