Hours: 45 hours per week (7:00am – 5:00pm)

Essential Qualifications & Tickets

Valid CSCS card

Confined Space – Medium Risk

Dumper and Roller tickets

Proven experience in deep drainage

Experience in general civil engineering works including:

Earthworks

Drainage

Ducting

Kerbing

Concreting

Desirable

Slinger Signaller

First Aid

SSSTS / SMSTS

Environmental Awareness

NRSWA

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Groundworker / Confined Spaces Operative to join a civil engineering and infrastructure project based in Cheadle, Stockport. The ideal candidate will be competent, safety-focused, and hands-on, with proven experience in deep drainage, confined spaces, temporary works, and general civils.

This is a full-time freelance position offering a competitive day rate on a structured infrastructure project with a professional site team.

Key Responsibilities

Install drainage systems, including deep drainage

Undertake excavation and groundworks

Carry out temporary works installation (sheets, frames, trench boxes)

Lay concrete, kerbs, and pavements

Dig trenches and assist with ducting works

Support site set-up and general construction activities

Operate plant safely where ticketed and authorised

Comply with all risk assessments, method statements, and site procedures

Conduct equipment checks prior to use

Maintain a safe, tidy, and organised working environment

Attend and contribute to site briefings and toolbox talks

Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly

Candidate Requirements

Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a professional site team

Strong understanding of site safety, confined space work, and temporary works

Ability to work under supervision while maintaining high standards of workmanship
