Construction Estimator

Location: Birmingham / Central Alabama Position Type: Full-Time Industry: Commercial General Contractor

Position Overview

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking a Construction Estimator to support bidding and preconstruction efforts on a variety of ground-up commercial and site development projects across Central Alabama and the Southeast.

This role is ideal for a hands-on, field-minded estimator who understands both building construction and civil/site components. The estimator will work closely with leadership and operations teams to help develop accurate budgets and secure profitable work.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for ground-up commercial construction Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings Develop pricing for building scopes such as concrete, structural systems, building envelope, and interior finishes Assist with estimating site-related scopes including grading, utilities, paving, and erosion control Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier pricing Participate in scope reviews, value engineering, and bid strategy discussions Support project managers with budgeting updates and change order pricing Attend pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits

Qualifications

3+ years estimating experience with a commercial general contractor or design-build contractor Experience estimating ground-up projects that include both building and sitework scopes strongly Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field production Experience with Sage, Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar software Proficient in Microsoft Excel Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
