Job Description

The Role

Construction Property Damage Solicitor – Manchester – Hybrid – up to £55,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Insurance Lawyer to join a well-established national law firm within its specialist Construction Property Damage and Recoveries team. This role focuses on acting for insurer clients on a wide range of construction-related property claims, including defects, site damage, contractor disputes, and associated perils such as fire, flood, impact, and escape of water.

The successful candidate will manage a varied and technical caseload, with claims typically valued in excess of £10,000 and exposure to higher-value matters in the £10,000–£100,000 range and beyond. This is a client-facing role for a technically strong and commercially minded lawyer with a keen interest in construction recoveries. In addition to managing claims, you will have the opportunity to support client development, including mentoring, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The team regularly delivers seminars and workshops to insurer clients, and candidates with a genuine interest in construction risk, defect claims, and site recoveries will thrive in this role.

  • Ability to handle technically complex claims, reviewing site reports, contracts, and evidence to establish recovery positions
  • Strong analytical skills and confident in drafting legal documentation and correspondence
  • Client-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Enthusiasm for negotiation, advocacy, and technically challenging construction disputes
