Construction QHSE (Quality, Health and Safety) Manager , Fixed Term Contract\nHigher Education Sector\nLocation: South West London\nContract: 6 Months initial, likely rolling\nAbout the Role\nWe are seeking an experienced Construction QHSE (Quality, Health and Safety) Manager to oversee health, safety, and quality performance across a diverse portfolio of construction and refurbishment projects within a higher education environment.\nWorking closely with estates, capital projects, consultants, and contractors, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all construction activity is delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest quality standards—while operating within a live campus setting that prioritises the wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors.\nKey Responsibilities\n * \n Lead and manage Health, Safety, and Quality standards across all construction and capital works projects.\n * \n Develop, implement, and monitor HSQ policies, procedures, and management systems aligned with legal, regulatory, and institutional requirements.\n * \n Act as the principal HSQ advisor to project teams, estates leadership, and senior stakeholders.\n * \n Review and approve contractor RAMS, construction phase plans, and quality documentation.\n * \n Conduct site inspections, audits, and investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.\n * \n Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations (where applicable), acting as Client Advisor or supporting the Client role.\n * \n Promote a positive safety culture appropriate to a live higher education campus, balancing construction delivery with academic operations.\n * \n Monitor quality assurance processes to ensure works meet design intent, specifications, and institutional standards.\n * \n Deliver HSQ training, briefings, and awareness sessions to internal teams and contractors.\nAbout You\nYou will be a confident, credible professional with experience managing HSQ within complex construction environments—ideally within higher education, healthcare, or similarly sensitive settings.\nEssential:\n * \n Proven experience in a senior HSQ role within construction or capital projects\n * \n Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and best practice\n * \n Experience working with multiple contractors and consultants\n * \n Ability to influence and challenge at all levels\n * \n Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills\nDesirable:\n * \n Experience working in a higher education or public-sector environment\n * \n NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)\n * \n Membership of IOSH or relevant professional body\n * \n Experience overseeing quality management systems in construction
