About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join a modern, forward-thinking pathology service within a well-equipped hospital environment. Due to increasing workload and expanding cancer services, we are looking for a Consultant with specialist interests to complement the existing team.
You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality cellular pathology service, supporting clinicians, GPs, and wider healthcare teams, while contributing to multidisciplinary cancer care.
Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive cellular pathology service, including histopathology reporting
• Participate in and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
• Develop and maintain specialist interests (e.g. urology, skin, GI, or breast pathology)
• Support clinical decision-making through accurate and timely diagnosis
• Contribute to service development, clinical governance, and audit
• Participate in on-call duties (mainly advisory for police cases)
• Support training and development of Biomedical Scientists and other staff
• Engage in CPD, appraisal, and revalidation processes

Requirements

• FRCPath (or equivalent)
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise (or eligibility within 6 months)
• CCT (or within 6 months) or equivalent experience
• Strong general histopathology experience
• Specialist interest in at least two areas (e.g. GI, breast, urology, skin)
• Experience working within MDT environments
