Role Overview

An exciting opportunity to join our multi‑discipline medical team as a Consultant in Gastroenterology and Endoscopic procedures. You will provide high quality gastrointestinal services to the population of Portsmouth in a clean and modern surgical centre.

Responsibilities

• Deliver day‑case endoscopy services for gastroscopy and colonoscopy to NHS and private patients, performed mainly under local anaesthesia with or without sedation.
• Manage and lead a multi‑professional team in two endoscopy rooms, one purpose‑built and one adapted operating room.
• Use Olympus and Fujinon equipment for endoscopic procedures and reporting.
• Provide expert opinion on a range of elective gastroenterology problems, drawing on substantial experience in the specialty.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and patient care in a modern facility with state‑of‑the‑art technology.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration.
• Evidence of subspecialty training in gastroenterology.
• Experience working in a specialist department treating upper and lower gastrointestinal conditions.
• Ability to provide expert opinion on elective gastroenterology cases.
