This post is for a CAMHS Consultant psychiatrist working with the CYP service.

Job Overview

The post holder joins a team of Consultant Psychiatrists within the all-age Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service. Every Consultant has a unique leadership role within the clinical teams/pathways for which they are responsible. Academic, teaching and management interests are strongly encouraged and supported.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric and medical assessment and management of children and young people with eating disorders in the CYP Community and ICT teams.
  • Deliver clinical leadership and consultation within the teams.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the service, including day patient service, acute hospital partners and paediatric/medical wards according to MEED guidelines.
  • Lead and supervise MDT meetings, referral & assessment processes, and manage clinic culture.
  • Diagnose patients using ICD10 codes and document appropriately.
  • Develop and review protocols with local paediatric services and contribute to new service models.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and participate in data collection and monitoring.
  • Provide cross‑cover for consultant colleagues and support training/supervision for psychiatry trainees.
  • Ensure discharges and incident reporting comply with service policies.

Person Specification

  • Education, Qualifications and Training
  • Primary Medical Degree.
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice.
  • Section 12 MHA Approved Clinician status.
  • Inclusion in the Child and Adolescent Specialist Register (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date).
  • Desirable: MRCPsych or equivalent; additional postgraduate qualification relevant to specialty.
  • Experience, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication and empathic skills; demonstrable leadership.
  • Experience of team working and sound organisational skills.
  • Experience and skills in eating disorders in young people (desirable).
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
