Overview We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the high‑performing inpatient team on Mulberry Ward, Macclesfield, within Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP). The post will be advertising a vacancy that has opened following a consultant move. Qualifications

Dual CCT holder in General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry, or Consultant with a CCT in Old Age Psychiatry with knowledge of adult psychiatry, or Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist with a strong interest in later life and complex presentations.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive psychiatric care and act as Responsible Clinician (RC) for an average of 13 patients. Lead a multidisciplinary team that includes junior trainees, psychologists, occupational therapists, nurses and pharmacists. Ensure timely, evidence‑based clinical decision‑making and patient‑centred care. Collaborate closely with the Home Treatment Team and Community Mental Health Teams to ensure continuity across the acute care pathway. Share responsibility with the Ward Manager for clinical governance, risk management and service improvement. Contribute to the design and delivery of safer, modernised inpatient pathways. Participate in incident reviews, audits and quality improvement initiatives. Provide teaching and supervision for medical trainees and multidisciplinary staff, fostering a positive learning culture. Join the East Locality Cheshire consultant on‑call rota (1:13) and participate in cross‑cover arrangements as needed.
