Overview Due to the expansion of our Respiratory Department, we are looking for a further Consultant to join our friendly team. These posts offer an £18,000 relocation package together with up to £10,000 Research and Professional Development Grant to be used in the first 3 years. Benefits All 10 PA job plans include 2.5 SPA as standard for new Consultants; 1.5 SPA for existing Consultants to support professional development and quality improvement. Additional SPA for educational, research or leadership activities are agreed in annual job plan reviews. You will have a generous study leave budget and allowance. Flexible working is possible: both posts are substantive 10 PA jobs, but less than full time working or fixed term appointments can be discussed. Qualifications & Requirements This is a permanent consultant post. You must be on the specialist register or pending a CCT date. Please verify your registration on gmc-uk.org/doctors/ before applying as no specialist registration applications will be rejected. Post‑holders will join a team of seven consultant chest physicians and an associate specialist, supported by experienced specialist nurses, physiotherapists, and a physiologist. The department is based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, with opportunities to undertake community clinics throughout the county and develop an integrated respiratory care team. Responsibilities / Service Overview Our main respiratory ward includes a 6‑bed Higher Care Unit/Acute Respiratory Unit. The unit is flexible to accommodate COVID and non‑COVID ARU areas as demand increases. Key clinical services cover bronchoscopy, EBUS, pleural day‑case clinics, and subspecialty care in lung cancer, TB, cystic fibrosis, sleep medicine, ILD, and respiratory failure including home ventilation. We maintain close links with Derriford Hospital in Plymouth for severe asthma, thoracic surgery, and medical thoracoscopy. A comprehensive mentoring programme supports all new employees, plus study leave and support for revalidation and CPD.
