Contract Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidworks / Plastic Injection Moulding

• Up to £47 ph, Outside IR35
• 6 month initial contract

We’re currently recruiting for a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer with Solidworks experience to support an exciting electronics manufacturing business based in Belfast.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with strong SolidWorks experience and a background in plastic injection moulded product design to join a busy engineering team working on active product development projects.

The role will involve a combination of 2D drawing updates, 3D CAD refinements, and mechanical design work on high-volume manufactured products, including components and enclosures used within electronic devices.

The Role

• Producing and updating 2D engineering drawings
• Carrying out 3D CAD modelling and design refinements
• Supporting the design and development of plastic injection moulded components
• Working closely with senior engineers on live product development projects
• Contributing to designs for products that integrate or house electronic PCB assemblies

Skills Required:

• Strong experience using SolidWorks
• Experience producing both 2D and 3D mechanical designs
• A background in designing plastic / injection moulded products
• Good understanding of GD&T / geometric tolerancing
• Previous experience in a mechanical design engineering role

Desirable:

• Experience designing enclosures or housings for electronic PCBs
• Experience working on electronic or electro-mechanical products
• Background within product development or manufacturing environments

Contract Details

• Location: Belfast
• Working Pattern: Hybrid. 3 to 4 days on site, 1 to 2 days remote
• Rate: Up to £47 per hour, outside IR35
• Contract Length: 6 months initially
