Job Description
We are recruiting for a CEM ideally with an MEP bias for a long term contract position in Birmingham.\n\nJob Responsibilities:\n\nBe nominated and carry out the NR 02009 duties of the Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM): \nAssessing and Mentoring CRE's in all aspects of applicable Network Rail standards including Engineering Management for Projects NR/L2/INI/02009.\nUsing initiative and confidence to put forward solutions based on sound engineering principles.\nChallenging the brief, enabling innovative development of unambiguous engineering solutions from feasibility through to detailed design\nDesign and checking of engineering solutions\nProduction and/or review of clear, consistent, referenced calculations, reports and sketches to current CoP and Standards\nClear communication of design philosophy and requirements with other team members\nAppreciation of the team's financial, quality and programme targets\nPromoting safe working practices in all areas\nManagement of staff and projects\nProvide guidance on design and engineering matters to all stakeholders including the leadership teams\nManage Contractors Responsible Engineers (CRE's) within the business\nAct as the company's representative at interdisciplinary reviews.\nEnsure the communication and implementation of engineering requirements with respect to construction works undertaken by the Company and its Subcontractors\nTrack the progress and ensure the high standard of designs and engineering management across the project\nEnsure the fitness and use of Inspection and Test Plans across the company\nCoach & develop future CEM's and CRE's within the business\nDevelop and execute the Verification and Validation process (V&V).\nEnsure NR assurance processes are followed and the required NR Forms A, B etc are completed and successfully approved by NR. \n\nUndertaking design review in line with current standards and to ensure buildability and constructability. Identify any weakness or errors in the design that could jeopardise the functionality.
Ensure HSE best practices are always followed.\nEnsure design risk assessment is compliant with installation parameters.\nParticipate in, and where required chair, HazID, HazOP, HazCON's and CSM-RA as required by the client.\nProvide engineered solutions to key project problems to satisfy clients expectations, project restrictions and budget considerations.\nProvide Engineering support and technical expertise to the various sectors and projects.\nManagement of all associated design registers, meeting minutes, drawing registers etc. as appropriate inline project requirements. Ensure all formal communication is undertaken and managed (RFI, TQ, EWN, MAR, TD, PADS etc).\nDirect liaison with CAD/BIM team to ensure correct drawing modelling to BIM or other standards.
Review drawings for clash detection and associated interface problems.\nAttend, chair and participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and checks (IDR/IDC).\nDevelopment of scope documents for tenders and procurement processes.\nLiaison with manufacturers to determine product suitability, in partnership with procurement.\nDirect liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology and solve key installation issues/constructability.\nWorking with the commercial department to track technical or design change and variances.\nWorking with the planning department to plan design, installation and T&C works. Provision of accurate assessment on forecast works to complete and provide suitable readjustments to ensure project programme is maintained.\nManagement of subcontractor works as appropriate including assisting commercial department in valuation and contract support
