Where you'll be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will be within our MEICA and capital maintenance team. Our Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) experts offer a one-stop solution, including ongoing operation and maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair control and instrumentation equipment across power generation plant and associated systems.
- Carry out calibration, testing and verification of field instruments to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
- Install, configure and maintain instruments measuring pressure, flow, temperature and level.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and functional testing of C&I systems to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics and control system drawings to support fault finding and installation works.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on control systems including PLC, SCADA and DCS platforms.
- Carry out loop checks, signal verification and commissioning activities on new and existing plant systems.
- Ensure instrumentation and control systems operate accurately, reliably and within specification.
- Record all maintenance and calibration activities in relevant systems and documentation (including CMMS / calibration databases).
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with site procedures, industry standards and health & safety regulations.
- NVQ Level 3 in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering or equivalent (essential).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong knowledge of control and instrumentation systems within power generation environments.
- Proficient in calibrating, maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation including sensors, transmitters and control valves.
- Experience using Beamex calibrators for accurate field calibration and verification of instruments.
- Knowledge of Beamex CMX calibration management database highly desirable.
- Competent in loop checking, signal testing and control system fault finding.
- Knowledge of PLC, SCADA and DCS control systems used in power station operations.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics and control drawings.
- Understanding of process control systems and power generation plant operations.
- Familiarity with safety systems, interlocks and critical protection instrumentation.
- Strong awareness of electrical and process safety standards within high-risk environments.
