Job Description
An established and growing engineering business is looking to strengthen its in-house design capability with an experienced Control Panel Draughtsman. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys taking ownership of control panel designs from concept through to manufacture, working closely with engineers, panel builders, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Producing electrical control panel drawings including:
Schematics General arrangement layouts Wiring and termination diagrams
Ensuring drawings comply with BS/IEC standards and relevant regulations Working closely with panel builders to resolve design queries and improve build efficiency Updating and maintaining drawing packs throughout the project lifecycle Supporting engineers and project teams with technical documentation Incorporating client specifications and change requests accurately and efficiently
Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Control Panel Draughtsman / Electrical Draughtsperson Strong working knowledge of electrical control systems Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (or AutoCAD with electrical experience) Understanding of:
Control panel layouts Wiring practices Industrial automation components
Ability to work independently and manage multiple drawing packages High attention to detail — mistakes cost time, you understand that Experience within industrial automation, manufacturing, or process environments Familiarity with PLC / control system documentation Exposure to ATEX, IEC 61439, or machinery safety standards
