Technical Controls Engineer – Grid Code & Power Systems – West Midlands – £45,000 to £60,000 + bonus + car option\n\nTake your career to the next level with a global power and energy technology business at their West Midlands operation, supporting advanced grid-connected power systems across the UK and international markets.\n\nDo you have hands-on experience programming and commissioning power or engine control systems via laptop?\n\nAre you confident working to UK Grid Code requirements on non-domestic power systems?\n\nHave you worked with controls such as ComAp, DEIF, Deep Sea, or similar platforms?\n\nAre you degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic or Power Engineering, or able to demonstrate strong technical equivalence?\n\nDo you enjoy solving complex technical problems while working closely with customers and internal teams?\n\nWhat you NEED...\n\nDegree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Power Engineering or closely related discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience.\n\nProven exposure to UK Grid Code compliance, grid connectivity or grid-parallel systems such as BESS, utility-scale PV, inverters or grid schemes.\n\nConfidence connecting laptops to live systems for diagnostics, configuration and fault finding.\n\nClear technical communicator capable of supporting customers, integrators and internal teams.\n\nFull UK driving licence with flexibility for UK travel and occasional international support.\n\nWhat you’ll get in return...\n\nSalary negotiable, usually positioned between £45,000 and £60,000 depending on depth and relevance of experience.\n\nAnnual bonus and company car or allowance option.\n\nHybrid working model with strong work-life balance.\n\nStructured technical development and exposure to cutting-edge grid-connected technologies.\n\nLong-term progression within a technically led global engineering organisation.\n\nNice to Haves\n\nExperience with ComAp, DEIF, Deep Sea, Woodward or similar control platforms.\n\nStrong technical competence with power or engine control systems where configuration, programming and commissioning are core to your role.\n\nBackground in BESS, utility-scale PV, grid-forming or grid-following inverter systems.\n\nPrevious exposure to commissioning, applications engineering or advanced technical support roles.\n\nKnowledge of international grid codes in addition to UK standards.\n\nCompany Profile\n\nOur client is a globally recognised engineering group specialising in intelligent control, automation and grid-connected power technologies. They support complex energy systems across multiple sectors including industrial, infrastructure and renewable energy, with a strong focus on compliance, reliability and future-ready solutions.\n\nRole & Responsibilities\n\nConfigure, program and commission power and control systems to meet UK Grid Code requirements.\n\nProvide advanced technical support to customers, integrators and internal sales and engineering teams.\n\nSupport grid-connected technologies including BESS, inverter-based systems and power control schemes.\n\nDiagnose and resolve complex control, communication and connectivity issues using laptop-based tools.\n\nAssist with system testing, validation and documentation.\n\nFeed technical insights back into engineering and product teams to support continuous improvement.\n\nINDWIN\n\nOur clients and their customers come from diverse backgrounds and so do we.
