World Wide Technology is looking for a Core Network Engineer. This role is part of WWTs Strategic Resourcing services and is a contract role . The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWTs preferred partners. The partner will provide full compensation and benefit information prior to employment with the partner.

Core Network Engineer
Contract Duration : 6 months contract
Location: Bromley, UK (Hybrid - 2 days onsite a week)
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with deep expertise in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with advanced networking technologies, automation tools, and operational best practices in large-scale enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain LAN/MAN/WAN networks, ensuring high availability and security.
Troubleshoot complex networking issues across multi-vendor environments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
Manage configuration and compliance using tools such as Forward Networks and HPNA.
Utilize monitoring and diagnostic tools (SevOne, Splunk, NetScout, Wireshark, NDC, HPNA, NNMI, OBM, IBM Watson, NSO) for proactive network management.
Drive network automation initiatives using industry-standard tools and processes.
Ensure adherence to security and resiliency standards across metro, long-haul, and subsea optical networks.
Required Skills & Experience:
Expert-level knowledge of core networking technologies:
IPv4/IPv6, L2VPN, MPLS-E, Segment Routing, ISIS Level 2, Multicast mLDP, BGP, EIGRP, QoS, UDP, OSPF, MetroE, DWDM, Dark Fiber, Carrier Circuits, Leased Line, Broadband, Direct Internet Access.
Tunneling protocols: MACSEC, IPSEC, SSL/TLS, GRE, DMVPN.
Routers, Switches, NHRP, ACL, VPN.
Strong understanding of optical networking fundamentals and resiliency principles.
Experience troubleshooting complex network problems in enterprise environments.
Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills; ability to work with all levels of management.
Self-directed, organized, and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
Nice to Have:
Experience with DMZ, Cisco NSO, and Dark Fiber deployments.
