Are you a tax professional looking for an opportunity to join a global in-house tax team? We’re seeking a Group Tax Adviser to work within a collaborative tax function, reporting to the Direct and Employment Tax Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the organisation’s tax strategy, ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and providing practical tax guidance across a complex international business.
The Role As Group Tax Adviser, you will support the business in managing a broad range of direct tax matters across the UK and overseas. You will help prepare and manage accurate, timely tax filings, provide support on international tax issues, and contribute to projects that optimise tax outcomes while ensuring compliance with domestic and international tax regulations.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers, you will be involved in tax operations across multiple territories and will help ensure the business remains well positioned from both a compliance and strategic perspective.
Key Responsibilities Manage direct tax matters across the business, including UK Corporation Tax, global transfer pricing, and the taxation of overseas subsidiaries and branches Support the Direct Tax team in delivering all tax-related responsibilities, maintaining accurate filing deadlines and supporting documentation Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and automation within tax operations Provide tax support and advice on global projects and programmes to help optimise tax outcomes and manage risk Research direct tax requirements in countries where the business is looking to establish a presence and support implementation Work closely with the Indirect Tax team to assist with reporting requirements where needed Support the application and reporting of employment taxes, including accurate PSA filings Help strengthen corporate governance around tax policy by enhancing processes and documenting protocols Share responsibility for managing the tax inbox, ensuring timely and effective responses to queries and correspondence Monitor changes in global tax law and assess the potential impact on cash tax and effective tax rate Collaborate with stakeholders and external advisers across international territories to ensure smooth tax compliance Uphold company values and always do what is right to protect the safety and wellbeing of staff, customers, communities, and the wider worldAbout You We’re looking for someone with strong technical tax knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced international environment.
Personal Qualities You will ideally have:
Strong numerical aptitude and confidence handling high volumes of financial data accurately Excellent analytical thinking, with the ability to interpret complex tax legislation and assess business impact Good problem-solving skills and the ability to respond to changing tax laws and regulations A flexible and adaptable approach, with confidence learning new systems and processes A commitment to continuous learning and professional developmentSkills and Experience Essential Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and working with high volumes of data Experience or knowledge of UK corporate tax and interaction with international taxation Strong written and verbal communication skills Intermediate skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets Sufficient accounting systems knowledge to adapt to internal finance systems Post-qualification or post-exam experience advising on direct taxes within an accounting practice or in-house tax teamDesirable Knowledge of Google Drive and Google Sheets Exposure to international direct taxes, such as US Federal and State taxes, German corporate and trade taxes, or similar Experience with other taxes such as employment taxes, indirect tax, and transfer pricing Experience reviewing or understanding tax returns from multiple countries Experience contributing to transfer pricing documentation Experience accounting for direct taxes, ideally under IFRSQualifications We welcome applications from candidates with tax and/or accounting qualifications such as:
