Job Description
5 months contract with a local authority
Job Purpose
- Develop and maintain systems, software, and processes to assist in the collection, collation and analysis of data and information relating to fraud, or potential fraud. Manage the National Fraud Initiative (NFI) database, liaise with relevant services and record outcomes, upload data to the Fraud Hub (part of the NFI), and analyse potential matches before allocating to an investigator for further actions. Keep up to date with changes in legislation, new and emerging fraud risks, and apply best practice.
- Carry out routine investigations through the identification and analysis of available intelligence and evidence
- Present evidence gathered clearly, effectively and within set timescales to relevant Council departments and external organizations.
- Support Corporate Fraud Investigators in investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, and dishonesty
- Lead ongoing Housing Right to Buy counter fraud application checks and provide advice to relevant departments
- Maintain the fraud case management system and produce relevant, timely information from the system
- Computer literate with good Microsoft and Word Excel skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of using IT software packages
- Able to analyse and interpret complex information
- Able to produce clear and concise reports
- Ability to work under pressure, meeting deadlines, and achieving targets
- Accredited counter fraud qualification
- At least 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English and Mathematics) or equivalent
- Working Hours: 36 hours per week
- Basic DBS check required
- Hybrid role with the possibility of working from home
- May involve working unsocial hours and potentially aggressive situations during investigations
- May be required to work off-site on his/her own
