Court of Protection Paralegal (Property & Affairs)

Location: Manchester (Remote)


Overview:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join a highly regarded Public Law team recognised for its work across education, health, social care, and human rights. The successful candidate will support a specialist team handling Court of Protection (Property & Affairs) matters and the administration of Personal Injury Trusts.

This role offers the chance to work in a supportive, collaborative environment where people genuinely enjoy working together to make a difference. Hybrid working is available, with occasional office attendance required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist fee earners with their caseloads within the Court of Protection team.
  • Draft correspondence and prepare court documents.
  • Conduct legal research and provide clear, concise summaries.
  • Liaise with clients (including vulnerable individuals), case managers, and other professionals.
  • Support new client enquiries and maintain accurate internal records.
  • Manage calls and casework efficiently, ensuring excellent client service.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of procedures and relevant legal developments.
  • Assist with billing and general administrative support.


Experience & Skills Required:

Essential:

  • Strong, demonstrable knowledge of Court of Protection (Property & Affairs) cases, the Mental Capacity Act, and the administration of Personal Injury Trusts.
  • Excellent client care and communication skills.
  • A team player who can also work independently to deliver results.
  • Strong ability to prioritise, manage workloads, and work to deadlines.
  • Proficient in legal research and confident using case management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Highly organised with strong written communication and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Friendly, professional, and empathetic manner when dealing with clients from all backgrounds.


Desirable:

  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification (LPC/PGDL).
  • Experience working with vulnerable clients.
  • Previous experience within a legal or public-facing environment.
  • Familiarity with the Proclaim case management system.
