Cover Supervisor - Secondary Schools - Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire

£90-£130 per day (DOE)

Simply Education is recruiting confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors to support a range of welcoming and supportive secondary schools in Newcastle-under-Lyme and the surrounding Staffordshire area. We offer daily supply, short-term cover, and long-term placements, depending on your experience and availability.

This role is perfect for individuals with experience working with young people who are confident managing classrooms and delivering pre-planned lessons across multiple subjects.

Location & School Information

• Secondary schools in Newcastle-under-Lyme and nearby areas
• Supportive staff teams and established cover procedures
• Mix of low-level disruption and more challenging behaviour schools
• KS3-KS4 mixed groups
• Opportunities due to staff absence, internal progression and increased school demand
• Partner schools vary in size, culture and Ofsted rating

Start Date & Contract Details

• Immediate roles available
• April and September starts also offered
• Daily supply, short-term and long-term roles
• Temp-to-perm opportunities for strong candidates
• Full-time and part-time hours considered

Hours & Working Pattern

• Monday to Friday
• Typical day: 8:15am-3:30pm
• Part-time / flexible working available

Salary & Pay

• £90-£130 per day
• PAYE available
• Pay dependent on experience and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-prepared lessons to classes when teachers are absent
• Maintain behaviour and classroom routines
• Keep pupils on task and support learning when appropriate
• Supervise whole classes across a range of subjects
• Manage class transitions and settle groups efficiently
• Provide feedback to relevant staff after lessons
• Follow safeguarding procedures at all times

Requirements

• Experience working with young people (schools, sports coaching, youth work, etc.)
• Strong behaviour management and confidence leading a classroom
• Ability to deliver prepared work effectively
• Flexible, reliable and resilient approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• A degree or previous school experience is beneficial but not essential
