Application Deadline: 15 April 2026 Department: Finance Location: Crawley, West Sussex Compensation: £31,280 / year Job Description 📍 Crawley, West Sussex | 37.5 hours per week; Monday - Friday (2-3 days a week in the office) Salary: up to £31,280 full time dependent on skills and experience Vines Group have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Controller to join the Accounts team. Vines are a private family‑owned business with retailers across Surrey and Sussex; in 2020 we celebrated 40 years in association with BMW and MINI. The team are looking for a proactive and meticulous Credit Controller who is ready for their next challenge within the automotive industry. In return Vines offer personal development and progression all within a "family feel" environment. Key Responsibilities
Maintain an effective and efficient credit control system to support business cash flow. Assess customer creditworthiness using credit rating agencies and determine appropriate credit limits. Monitor customer accounts to ensure payments are received within agreed credit terms. Proactively chase overdue payments through telephone, email, and written communication. Investigate and resolve internal and external queries relating to invoices and payments. Liaise with department managers to provide updates on outstanding debts and reasons for non-payment. Escalate high‑risk or overdue accounts where necessary and recommend appropriate action. Provide clear, accurate financial information and analysis to non‑finance colleagues. Support the wider accounts team and provide cover when required. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of customer accounts and credit control activities. Contribute to a well‑organised, compliant, and safe working environment.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Solid understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping (Purchase & Sales Ledger). Previous experience in credit control is essential. Confident interpreting credit reports and making informed decisions. Strong communication skills – clear, professional, and approachable. Comfortable handling queries and building relationships across teams. Good working knowledge of Excel and Word. Highly organised, with strong attention to detail. Able to manage your workload, meet deadlines, and stay calm under pressure. A team player who’s happy to support others when needed.
