Credit Controller

Its a new year and perhaps time for a new start?

We are recruiting a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join our clinets Finance team on a 12 month contract. The role is responsible for managing and resolving a regional debtor ledger of approximately £1.5 million, covering both current and legacy debt.

Key Responsibilities

Proactively manage and collect trade debtor balances across the business in a timely manner

*

Take ownership of a regional ledger of c. £1.5m, including both current and legacy debt

*

Liaise with care homes, next of kin, Local Authorities, and NHS bodies to facilitate cash collection

*

Manage multiple payment methods including invoicing, portal submissions, direct debits, and scheduled remittances

*

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all communications and financial transactions

*

Conduct regular telephone follow-ups with stakeholders to resolve queries and chase outstanding balances

*

Review Top 50 debtor accounts on a weekly basis

*

Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies promptly

*

Provide regular reports on debt status, recovery progress, and cash collection performance

*

Achieve targeted cash collection objectives

*

Support other members of the finance team as required

*

Undertake additional duties as directed by the Credit Manager

Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Expertise

Essential:

*

Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in records and transactions

*

Strong Excel skills and experience with reconciliations

*

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

*

Ability to negotiate payment terms and resolve disputes diplomatically

*

Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving

*

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritise effectively

*

Good analytical skills

Desirable:

*

Previous experience within the care sector (not essential)

*

Experience liaising with Local Authorities and NHS organisations
