Position: Customs CoordinatorLocation: RochesterSalary: £28,000 - £34,000Our client, a well-established freight forwarding company are actively seeking a skilled Customs Coordinator to join their team.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all import and export customs entries for ocean freight shipments, ensuring full compliance with UK customs regulations, accurate documentation, and excellent customer service, while liaising with colleagues, customers, and external agencies such as HMRC and Port Health.Job OverviewProcess all import and export customs entries for ocean freight, including Home Use, IPR, CFSP, ETSF, and bond removalsPerform tariff classification, manage licenses, and handle other documentary requirementsCalculate duty and VAT costs per shipmentProcess reclaims and other post-clearance proceduresDeal with customer and overseas partner queriesAct as cover when required within the teamMaintain accurate records and support smooth team operationsJob RequirementsFull knowledge of UK customs procedures for both import and export ocean freight shipmentsExperience with CDS (Customs Declaration Service)Experienced in UK approved customs software, e.g., Multiship, Impatex, Data Freight, or equivalentStrong IT skills and excellent attention to detailEffective communication skills with colleagues, customers, and external agenciesAbility to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasksExperience using freight management systems, e.g., CargoWise, Sequoia, Descartes, CDS, is advantageousSalary & Benefits£28,000 - £34,000 dependent on experienceFull-time, permanent (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm)28 days holiday (BH Included) + additional 5 days with long servicePension schemeOffice-based in RochesterBennett and Game Recruitment are a multi-disciplined technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the UK with specialist teams covering a range of industries.We are acting as a Recruitment Agency in relation to this vacancy, and in accordance with GDPR by applying you are granting us consent to process your data, contact you about the services we offer, and submit your CV for the role you have applied for.
