About the role Oliver James is partnered with a leading, world‑class Cyber Security practice seeking to recruit Directors with a specialism within UK Financial Services. Candidates across the UK are welcome (clients are mostly London based) and the role offers up to £170,000 basic pay, excluding bonuses, benefits and extras. Our client’s practice comprises several hundred diverse and talented cyber professionals who advise UK Financial Services clients on the ever‑evolving cyber agenda. As a Director in the UK Financial Services Cyber practice you will be responsible for building and developing a team that enjoys finding creative solutions to our client’s cyber issues. You will assist clients in one or more specific sub‑sectors within Financial Services – including Banking & Capital Markets, Insurance & Investment Management, Fin/Reg Techs, Regulators and Challengers – and thrive in an environment that enables you to deal with people at all levels of seniority with diplomacy and tact. Your role You will be someone who wants to capitalise on an already strong Financial Services reputation and network, deep Cyber Security subject‑matter expertise, and strong leadership qualities. Responsibilities
Develop the market for Cyber Security services across Financial Services organisations through effective client relationships and championing the services. Lead projects for Financial Services clients, managing the process from sales and marketing to defining key functional processes. Understand and anticipate client needs based on a strong knowledge of Financial Services specific requirements. Deliver a portfolio of cyber‑related engagements across the business, including effective people management on client engagements and seamless collaboration with colleagues in other parts of the organisation and globally. Maintain a broad perspective on potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams, and implement strategies to overcome them while supporting the firm’s commitment to an inclusive culture. Identify opportunities to improve the value of services delivered to clients and the efficiency of go‑to‑market activity. Capture and enhance intellectual property and “know‑how” through client engagements and maintain awareness of the digital marketplace. Lead the development and implementation of existing and new market propositions across Financial Services, collaborating with colleagues throughout the organisation. Attract world‑class talent to the practice. Contribute to thought‑leadership and industry research on cyber security and organisational crisis and response management.
Qualifications
Extensive Cyber Security experience, either within Financial Services or, ideally, within a major consultancy/professional services firm with Financial Services clients. Broad range of security experience with a distinct specialism in at least one area (e.g., cyber strategy, security target operating models, security transformation programmes, security change initiatives, security technologies, privacy, etc.). Holding or willingness to obtain certifications such as CCP, CISSP, CISM, CCNP, CIPP/E preferred. Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen, including a clear understanding of cyber risk to both business processes and supporting technology. Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of developing effective, long‑lasting client relationships, whether as a consultant or through demonstrable influencing ability within an organisation. Experience delivering high‑quality complex projects, including effective programme, project, financial and people management. Ability to analyse complex information and present it concisely to audiences with varied cultures, technical backgrounds and seniority levels. Self‑confidence and enthusiasm for business development activities. Existing security clearance or willingness to undergo vetting procedures.
