Manual Grinder required for a permanent role with a medium-sized engineering firm.
Our client, a well-established engineering company , is seeking a skilled Manual Grinder to join their toolroom team. This role initially operates on a morning shift moving on to afternoons
Key Responsibilities Manual Grinder
Set up and operate manual surface and cylindrical grinding machines to produce parts to tight tolerances, including:
Jones & Shipman 540 Surface Grinder Manual

Jones & Shipman 1300 Cylindrical Grinder Manual

XYZ 2040 Surface Grinder Manual

Abwood RG1 Circular Ring Grinder Manual

Measure and inspect manufactured components to ensure accuracy to engineering drawings

Report any deficiencies to the inspector and line manager

Perform routine equipment maintenance, including oil and coolant checks

Maintain high quality standards while minimising waste

Follow written instructions, safe working practices, and maintain a tidy work area

Support continuous improvement initiatives for safety, quality, and productivity

Work independently and collaboratively within a small, dedicated team

Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in toolroom manual grinding

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Knowledge of CNC grinding machines advantageous (training available)

Experience with CMM inspection machines advantageous

Reliable, motivated, and quality-focused

Hours & Pay
Monday Thursday: 3.00pm to 1.00am

36 hours per week

Permanent role with potential for career progression
