D365 Business Central Lead (Finance & Supply Chain) Location: Manchester Type: Permanent Reporting to: Finance Director / Senior Leadership Hybrid: 3 days a week Salary: £75,000 - £95,000 About the Role Our client is looking for an experienced ERP & Business Central Lead to take ownership of their Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environment and drive the next phase of their digital and operational transformation. This is not a traditional programme management role. We need someone who combines strategic ERP leadership with a hands‑on, detail‑driven approach - someone who can understand how the business works today, identify what "good" looks like for them, and lead the practical steps required to get there. You will be the internal expert for Business Central: shaping the roadmap, diagnosing issues, defining improvements, and coordinating development work. You won't be expected to write code yourself, but you must be comfortable getting into the detail of how the system works, what needs fixing, and how to deliver meaningful change. Key Responsibilities
Act as the Business Central subject matter expert for the entire organisation. Lead the end‑to‑end optimisation of Business Central, ensuring it meets the needs of a fast‑growing, product‑led business. Diagnose system issues, gaps, and inefficiencies - and translate them into clear, actionable development requirements. Work closely with external developers (ad‑hoc or retained) to deliver fixes, enhancements, and new functionality. Provide ERP leadership across the business, helping teams understand best practice and what "good" looks like. Map business processes, challenge existing ways of working, and design improved workflows within BC. Own the ERP roadmap, prioritising improvements based on business value and operational impact. Ensure strong governance, documentation, and change control around all system developments. Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to ensure Business Central supports their needs. Provide hands‑on support during month‑end, system changes, and key operational cycles. Drive user adoption, training, and continuous improvement across the organisation. What We're Looking For
Extensive experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or NAV with BC transition experience).
A blend of strategic thinking and hands‑on problem‑solving - someone who can zoom out and lead, but also dive into the detail when needed. Strong understanding of core business processes (finance, supply chain, operations, inventory, manufacturing, or similar). Proven ability to translate business needs into system requirements and deliver improvements. Experience working with external developers and managing technical delivery. A proactive, sleeves‑rolled‑up mindset - someone who thrives on fixing problems, improving systems, and making things work better. Excellent communication skills and the confidence to challenge, guide, and influence stakeholders. A track record of driving ERP transformation in a growing or complex business. Why This Role Matters Our client is at a pivotal stage in its growth. Business Central should be a powerful enabler - but only with the right leadership. This role will shape how the business operates, how data flows, and how teams work day‑to‑day. The right person will make a visible, lasting impact across the organisation
