The Role
The Data and Insight Manager is responsible for providing valuable insight to help shape the future direction of our organisation. In this role you will lead our insight and analysis work, ensuring decision making and planning is informed by timely and accurate data. You will also develop our thinking about what else we can do to provide insight into how well we are working and how we might improve.
What you will do
- Lead the organisation’s insight and analysis future direction, ensuring best practice and effective guidance for strategic decision-making.
- Manage the Data and Insight team, enhancing report quality, clarity, and staff development.
- Oversee management information reporting, develop performance indicators, and present performance data to leadership and the board to drive improvement.
- Identify and prioritise reporting needs in collaboration with executive directors, heads of function, and other key stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with board members, sponsors, and partner organisations to promote cross-organisational use of insight.
- Provide specialist analysis and advice to support organisational planning and proactively improve performance.
- Engage with stakeholders, building and maintaining strong, professional relationships throughout the business, sharing knowledge and learning within the team and wider across the organisation.
- Work with the other senior managers in the business planning and improvement team to help shape our approach to improvement.
- Take an active role in the organisation’s developing approach to data governance, bringing data and insight expertise to the design and implementation of new data governance processes.
- Promote understanding across the organisation of how data and analysis support goals, and deputise for the Head of Business Planning and Improvement when required.
- A proven record of leading successful teams.
- Significant experience of using PowerBI, or relevant experience with a similar tool.
- A demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Education to degree level in a relevant subject, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Experience of operating at a strategic level in an analytical role.
- The ability to lead the development of the organisation’s insight and analysis future direction.
- Strong mathematical literacy and knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
- A strong understanding of how analysis informs planning and improvement and drives effective decision making.
- Significant experience of designing, developing and implementing management information reports.
- Experience of designing, developing and implementing performance frameworks to align information needs across an organisation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written including the ability to communicate complex ideas.
- Job type:Permanent
- Working pattern: Full time. We offer flexible working subject to business need.
- Salary:£53,426 rising to £55,749 after successful completion of a 6-month probationary period
- Location: Sheffield/Hybrid with two days a week in the office.
