Purpose of the Job The Data Centre HVAP Technician is responsible for supervising and overseeing both planned and reactive maintenance activities in collaboration with the Engineering Supervisor and Shift Leader. The role requires close liaison with engineering management and client representatives to ensure full compliance with site policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations.\n\n Operating as an Authorised Person (HV), you will ensure all safety documentation is completed to a consistently high standard and that all works align with company policies and Safe Systems of Work.\n Role Summary\nDeliver routine and reactive maintenance across building plant, equipment, and systems, ensuring service levels consistently meet or exceed agreed SLAs.\nRespond promptly to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and undertake emergency repairs as required.\nImplement, manage, and enforce Permit to Work (PTW) controls to ensure safe execution of all activities.\nDevelop, review, and follow switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs in line with company policies and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).\nMaintain evaporative cooling systems and domestic water systems in compliance with L8 (Legionella) requirements.\nEnsure appropriate availability of spare parts to support maintenance and fault response activities.\nMaintain accurate maintenance records using REALM task sheets.\nPrepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for in-house works, ensuring robust risk control and safe working practices.\nSupervise engineering subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and site operating procedures.\nBuild and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and client representatives.\nPromote a safe and healthy working environment, ensuring full compliance with company and client policies and procedures.\nPresent a professional image to clients and visitors, delivering high standards of customer service at all times.\nCommit to ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance technical competence.\nEnsure work packs contain all required documentation and review subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).\nProvide technical and operational support during unplanned incidents or system faults.\nFulfil all HV Authorised Person (HVAP) responsibilities associated with the role.Experience & Skills Required Qualifications & Certifications\nHV Authorisation (essential).\nCurrent Wiring Regulations certification.\nNVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.\nEmergency First Aid at Work qualification.\nManual Handling training (advantageous).\nPASMA and IPAF certifications (preferred).Experience\nProven experience managing real-time incidents and faults within a business-critical or data centre environment.\nDemonstrable experience in a similar role within a comparable organisation.\nStrong understanding of health & safety obligations relating to maintenance and live operational environments.\nKnowledge of multiple interlinked systems, including Fire, PMS, and BMS platforms.Skills & Attributes\nExcellent verbal communication skills; numerate and literate.\nStrong attention to detail and a diligent approach to safe working practices.\nSelf-motivated with a high level of personal integrity and accountability.\nAble to work independently and collaboratively within a team.\nHighly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in high-pressure environments.\nProfessional, courteous, and presentable, with confidence interacting with clients at all levels.\nFlexible approach to working hours to support operational requirements.\nStrong sense of ownership and accountability for site performance and safety
