Working in our UK support functions you’ll play a key part in helping our customer facing colleagues deliver exceptional standards of customer service and patient care. No matter your role, you’ll have an opportunity to do work that matters. Making a difference to the lives of our customers each and every day.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead Bupa’s Data Office as a Principal Data Programme Manager, overseeing the successful delivery of complex, high-impact data initiatives that drive strategic transformation across the organisation. In this senior leadership role, you’ll manage a multidisciplinary team including Senior Business Analysts, Data Modellers, and Scrum Masters — ensuring cohesive, efficient, and value-driven delivery across a portfolio of data programmes.
How You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to align data initiatives with Bupa’s strategic goals, governance standards, and performance ambitions. A key part of this role involves close collaboration with the leads for Data Governance, Data Science and AI, and Business Intelligence within the Health Service data team — ensuring that delivery is integrated, strategic, and aligned with enterprise-wide data priorities.
As a key enabler of our strategy, you’ll shape the operating model of the Data Office, embed best-in-class delivery practices, and foster a culture of data-driven decision-making. You’ll also play a critical role in building delivery capability, mentoring your team, and ensuring that data is used responsibly and effectively to improve outcomes for our customers, patients, and colleagues.
Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role
- Proven experience leading large-scale, complex data or digital transformation programmes across business and technology domains.
- Strong leadership and line management experience, with the ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of data delivery practices, including data governance, analytics, data platforms, and responsible data use.
- Demonstrated ability to work with senior stakeholders, including executive sponsors, to align delivery with strategic goals.
- Expertise in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, with practical experience applying hybrid delivery models in complex environments.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing programme budgets, resource planning, and vendor relationships.
