The Role
We are looking for a hands-on and proactive Delivery Manager to support the effective delivery of our software and systems, for one or more of our software engineering teams and specialist disciplines, some of which may be from our network of augmentation partners.  You will own end to end delivery predictability providing transparent forecasts and delivery metrics.  Partnering closely with Product and Engineering leadership and as a peer to our Engineering leads, you will enable high-pace delivery without compromising quality or sustainable team health.  This is not a remote role. You will need to be able to commute to our Peterlee office.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who can work proactively and autonomously with a focus on software and systems delivery at pace, adopting project timelines set out by the business, understanding risks and issues, and adapting ways of working to ensure successful delivery to time and budget.  While you will own and facilitate our agile sprint rituals this is not a “Scrum Master” role, you will have a commercially aware project delivery focus.
You will:
Own demand intake and backlog readiness, supporting prioritisation Own delivery forecasting and managing capacity utilisation with stakeholders Producing metrics and insights, providing daily/weekly/monthly reporting telling the story in plain English. Maintain RAID, drive return to green plans and proactively identify and resolve impediments. Run and continuously improve our rituals and ways of working.
Track and manage delivery on a daily basis matching delivery to timesheet data, ensuring we deliver to time and budget Undertake supplier management, holding them to account for delivery To be successful in the role:
You will need to demonstrate your understanding of delivering at pace using various methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, in a software engineering environment. You will need to demonstrate your understanding of managing risks and issues, how you will work proactively to assure successful delivery and the provision of KPIs, metrics and reporting. You will be familiar with Microsoft Azure DevOps for backlog management and reporting. You will need to detail your plan for the first 90 days. Demonstrating how you will onboard quickly, develop relationships, and begin to show mature successful delivery through adaptability, modernisation, and optimisation. You will need to demonstrate how you will influence and coach colleagues to ensure your ideas and optimisations land effectively.
