Working with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this role will provide managerial oversight of the Technical Department within Journey with particular focus on the operational delivery of the team and its personnel. This role would suit an experienced project manager, producer or operations manager interested in applying their existing experience to a forward‑looking team tasked with defining the next chapter of multidimensional design and creative technology. An understanding of the role technology plays in a business, both creatively with regards to public‑facing projects and operationally, will be crucial. Contract type: Permanent, Operational Responsibilities
Have an ongoing consideration of availability, skills, interest, balance of projects, individual team professional development and representation of the department. Support the CTO to ensure effective delivery of department operations, including:
Designing and implementing processes across technology product management, project management, software development, and technical operations. Serving as point person for HR, Finance, Facilities, and other business operations teams for the Technology team, ensuring delivery to existing processes and key deadlines. Coordinating meetings, minuting, and disseminating actions.
Supporting Technology leadership across processes, operations, and team management; contributing to design of new processes, execution of existing processes, and standardisation across workflows and teams. Managing collection of data, reporting, and communication of Technology team KPIs. Contributing to resourcing processes, ensuring utilisation data and near‑term planning accurately reflect the needs of the business and the plans of the Technology team, partnering with Technology leads. Representing the Technology team in larger business processes and communications, reflecting the Technology strategy, approaches, and execution. Supporting the CTO with organisational design, internal communications, processes, and overall departmental structure. Line‑managing departmental coordinator, technical project managers, and other operational Technology staff where appropriate. Ensuring consistency across global Technology teams in all internal and Journey processes. Partnering with the CTO to consistently deliver on finance, HR, business operations, recruitment and talent, and internal Technology processes. Providing additional mentorship to Technology leads around leadership, management, and process. Recognising possible approaches and new possibilities for how the department operates and thrives, including research into new approaches. Setting the tone for how the department engages with and collaborates with other areas of the organisation. Partnering with the CTO to drive team culture and environment, both internally and as part of the overall Journey culture. A commitment to the implementation of Journey's values around sustainability, accessibility, belonging, and inclusion in all areas of the business and allocating focus within the department in these key areas. Keeping abreast of influences and ideas from leading sector peers and developments. Undertaking other work as reasonably required by the company.
Qualifications
Approximately 15 years demonstrable experience in project and/or operational management. An acute understanding of the role technology plays in a creative organisation. A strong track record and keen interest in administration and its impact. Experience rolling out processes for more effective teams and departments. Experience evaluating and strengthening team performance. Ability to interact with a wide range of people and excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in a fast‑paced environment and an ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Experience working with busy executive‑level leadership. Strong attention to detail. Experience overseeing a team. Desirable:
Experience coordinating HR processes. Experience working in a design studio across one or more design specialisms (spatial design & architecture, video design & animation, and technical design).
