About Us

The Departments of Neuroinflammation and Translational Neuroscience and Stroke have a joint administrative support team. We are now recruiting a Departmental Administrative Assistant to work closely with the Departmental Administrator and Departmental Administrative Officer to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the departments.

The Department of Translational Neuroscience and Stroke is home to a collaboration of interlinked neurological research areas, each one focused on advancing translational scientific knowledge to further patient recovery and management and educating through teaching and academic supervision.

The Department of Neuroinflammation is recognised worldwide as a centre of excellence for multiple sclerosis (MS) research. The Department employs a broad range of basic and clinical methods, including clinical therapeutic trials to undertake research into multiple sclerosis (MS).

About The Role

A key point of contact for the departments’ researchers, the Departmental Administrative Assistant is a varied and interesting role that offers the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of activities, including organising departmental meetings and events, maintaining research and publication records, supporting HR-related administration, and providing a proactive and flexible administrative support function for departmental colleagues. This role also offers the opportunity to learn about research funding through the provision of an effective financial administration service, supporting the Departmental Administrator in preparing research costings and budget projections, and assisting research groups with purchasing and ordering.

This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% of time on site.

About You

You will have a good standard of education to A-Level or NVQ Level IV administration, or equivalent professional experience. An understanding of data protection regulations and experience of providing a successful administrative support function is essential.

The role requires a resourceful, organised, and efficient individual with excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and problem solve effectively.
