Deputy Head of Safety and Compliance

This role acts as the Deputy Postholder, providing leadership, technical expertise and credible decision‑making in all safety and compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Management
Safety Leadership & Culture
Lead proactive hazard identification and structured risk assessment activities.
Monitor mitigation actions to ensure timely and effective closure.
Deliver clear, data‑driven safety reports for leadership decision‑making.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date SMS documentation.
Safety Assurance & Investigation
Ensure high‑quality, relevant safety training is available across the business.
Provide expert advice to operational teams and senior management.
Manage internal safety reports and ensure proper follow‑up.
Support investigations, root‑cause analysis and development of lessons learned.
Collate and share safety intelligence from regulators, industry bodies and suppliers.
Promote a strong, positive safety culture throughout the organisation.
Conduct and support safety audits of third‑party providers and communicate findings.
Regulatory Reporting & Governance
Support distribution of critical safety information to all personnel.
Prepare Centrik data packs, actions and minutes for safety meetings.
Contribute to continuous improvement of SMS and safety interfaces.
Compliance Monitoring
Audit Leadership & Oversight
Support delivery of the Internal Audit Plan in line with the Integrated Management System.
Lead and conduct internal audits, ensuring consistency and adherence to procedures.
Validate findings with clear categorisation and supporting evidence.
Monitor closure of internal and external audit findings.
Compliance Governance & Improvement
Produce accurate compliance performance reports and dashboards.
Maintain compliance documentation and provide informed guidance to management.
Track regulatory changes and drive required updates into procedures.
Promote a proactive and engaged compliance culture across all departments.
Regulatory Interfaces & Provider Management
Conduct compliance audits of third‑party providers.
Communicate compliance requirements and updates to personnel.
Provide performance feedback to the Accountable Manager.
Support approval and oversight of Part CAMO, Part 145, Part 147 and Safety/Compliance personnel.
Assist with external audits and develop credible, evidence‑based actions, including root‑cause and preventive measures.
Job Requirements
Demonstrated capability to act as Deputy Safety Manager and Deputy Compliance Monitoring Manager.
Strong knowledge of Operational, Aircrew and Continuing Airworthiness regulations.
Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
Auditor‑trained with minimum 2 years' experience in safety management and compliance monitoring (5+ desirable).
Ability to deliver balanced, pragmatic solutions that satisfy both regulatory and commercial requirements.
Willingness to travel to company and supplier sites as required
