This school is a Secondary, Co-Ed school located in Berkshire, South East. It has 1197 students from age 11-19 yr with a student-teacher ratio of 14 : 1. At this school, 21% of pupils achieved grade 5 or more at GCSE.92.40% of pupils completing their main study programme.This school rated Good by recent Ofsted inspection.
The Deputy SENDCo will report to the SENDCo
We are looking for potential candidates that have experience with children or young adults with social, emotional difficulties, mental health needs, behavioural difficulties or ADHD.
The ideal candidate will -
* Good Honours Degree
* Recent and relevant continued professional development
* Valid driving licence and ability to travel to different sites
* NASENCO qualification or willingness to obtain the new NVQ within three years of appointment
Main duties -
* Carry out those responsibilities defined by statute with specific reference to the Core Professional Standards, the conditions of Employment of Teachers in the DfE (DCSF) publication ‘School Teachers Pay and Conditions,’ to provide a full learning experience and support for students.
* To actively promote equality of opportunity to provide the best possible education for all its students, considering ethnicity, gender, and special educational needs, English as an additional language, disability and emotional needs that may affect learning.
* To be accountable for student progress and development within the department.
* To develop and enhance the teaching practice of others both in the department and across the school where relevant.
* To ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, and relevant and differentiated curriculum for students in the department, in accordance with the aims of the school and the curricular policies as determined by the governing body and the Head Teacher.
* To be accountable for planning, preparing and delivering lessons effectively to raise standards of student attainment and achievement for SEN students and to monitor and support student progress. To maintain accurate records in respect of the same.
* To develop efficient systems and strategies to effectively identify students with Special Educational Needs and to put into place suitable plans and arrangements to meet these needs.
* To use specialist teaching skills with students on a 1:1 and small group basis to develop their learning, skills and confidence.
* In conjunction with the SENDCo ensure the accuracy of the SEN registers.
* To deliver effective and efficient support, advice and training to specialist and mainstream colleagues to facilitate inclusive education, meeting statutory responsibilities and raising standards of achievement for SEN students
* To chair Annual Reviews, preparing correct documentation for them and writing the Review itself.
* To ensure that accurate and up-to-date IEPs exist for SEN students and that they are disseminated to mainstream and support staff.
* In conjunction with the SENDCo assess, report on and apply for Access Arrangements in tests and examinations, as appropriate to students’ individual needs.
