Location: EC1A 2DJ, City of London, London, South East, UKI am working closely with a Main Contractor based in East London, who are looking for an experienced Design Manager to take ownership of exciting residential and student accommodation schemes across London and the South East.This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys seeing projects through from tender to completion and wants to be part of a collaborative, design-focused business with a strong reputation for delivering quality developments.The RoleAs Design Manager, you'll play a key role in coordinating the design process across multiple stakeholders - ensuring design intent, cost, and buildability align at every stage.Your day-to-day will include:Managing design from pre-construction through to handoverLiaising with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teamsLeading design meetings and workshopsDriving value engineering and buildability reviewsEnsuring compliance with planning, technical, and sustainability standardsSupporting tender and procurement processesAbout YouYou'll be an experienced Design Manager (or Senior Design Coordinator ready for a step up) with a background in multi-unit residential or student accommodation projects.Ideally, you'll have:Experience working with main contractors or design & build firmsA solid understanding of modern construction methodsStrong coordination and communication skillsThe ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectivelyThe CompanyThis East London contractor is known for its friendly, design-led culture, focus on quality and innovation, and genuine career progression opportunities.
