About the Role\n\nWe are seeking an experienced and proactive Design Manager to join a top business specialising in Student Accommodation projects to take responsibility for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery. You will play a key role in coordinating consultants, ensuring design compliance, and supporting successful, buildable project outcomes.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Manage and coordinate the design process across all project stages\n\n * \n\n Lead design development from tender through construction and handover\n\n * \n\n Coordinate architects, engineers, and specialist consultants\n\n * \n\n Ensure designs are compliant with statutory requirements, building regulations, and client briefs\n\n * \n\n Manage design programmes, deliverables, and information flow\n\n * \n\n Identify and manage design risks, opportunities, and value engineering options\n\n * \n\n Chair and lead design meetings and workshops\n\n * \n\n Review drawings and specifications for buildability, cost, and programme impact\n\n * \n\n Work closely with commercial, planning, and site teams to ensure design intent is delivered\n\n * \n\n Manage design changes and ensure accurate, timely information is issued to site\n\nRequirements\n\n * \n\n Proven experience as a Design Manager in Student Accommodation or Build to Rent schemes.\n\n * \n\n Strong understanding of construction methods and sequencing\n\n * \n\n Experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams\n\n * \n\n Ability to interpret and challenge technical drawings and specifications\n\n * \n\n Excellent organisational, communication, and coordination skills\n\n * \n\n Strong knowledge of relevant building regulations and industry standards\n\n * \n\n Proficient in design management systems and document control platforms\n\nDesirable (but not essential)\n\n * \n\n Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or similar\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n * \n\n Competitive salary and benefits package\n\n * \n\n Opportunity to work on high-quality, technically interesting projects\n\n * \n\n Supportive and collaborative working environment\n\n * \n\n Career progression and professional development opportunities
