OverviewDesign Manager will provide delivery of our client's projects within the power transmission & distribution sector.Design Manager will provide delivery of our client's projects within the power transmission & distribution sector.ResponsibilitiesProvide overall project management of design projects from concept to completion in accordance with recognized best practices (APM/PMP/PRINCE2 or similar), including FEED, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, constructability reviews, construction stage design support, and closeout.Support the project role of Project Manager on assigned design-only projects or fulfilling the role of Design Manager on assigned Design & Build/Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) projects.Program and completion of projects within specified dates; maintain professional and satisfactory relationships with the client, subcontractors, regulatory bodies, and all other project stakeholders.Fulfill all associated statutory and contractual requirements; maintain project compliance to our client and client design management processes and procedures.Develop and implement project policies and procedures, project controls systems, and the project execution plan.Report regularly on project progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential impacts, and any issues requiring office support.Plan and lead project and client meetings; support the preparation of project proposals, lead presentations, and lead project contract negotiations with support from senior management.Drive "Safety by Design" approach on all projects, at all times.Support nurturing of a safety and technical excellence culture through emphasis on staff competence, diligence, and responsible attitude.Qualifications / SkillsExperience delivering engineering design projects in the UK within the power transmission & distribution sector; ability to develop engineering design work across the UK business and assemble suitable project teams from across global offices in collaboration with the Engineering Director.Proven ability to provide overall project management of design projects from concept to completion in line with recognized best practices (APM/PMP/PRINCE2 or similar), including FEED, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, constructability reviews, construction stage design support, and closeout.Responsible for performance of assigned projects in safety, health, environmental management, sustainability, quality, resourcing, and timely completion; maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.Coordinate with engineering discipline leaders to resource appropriately competent staff and ensure effective interdisciplinary design coordination and collaboration.Understand and apply wider industry best practices and client standards for construction, operations & maintenance, and decommissioning to drive safety, constructability, and operability across asset lifecycles.Maintain compliance with the UK Integrated Management System and support a world-class customer service culture; act as an ambassador for the client with high professional and ethical standards.Provide supportive general personnel management of line reports, with emphasis on development, technical guidance, and training needs; participate in marketing and business development activities and contribute to new project opportunities.Identify skills and competencies required, support development and recruitment of talent, and assist in implementing departmental objectives and the UK business plan.Equal Opportunity ersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants.
