BAM is now recruiting for a Design Manager to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design phase, which will run concurrently with the completion of main works contracts, which are now at their peak. You will be reporting to the track slab Design Delivery Director. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of high-speed rail slab track projects, requiring strong project management capabilities. The Design Manager will be expected to drive collaboration, uphold quality standards, and deliver innovative solutions in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.The role will be based out of the project office in Euston Square, London.Your teamThe role will be based out of the project office in London.Attend meetings with the broader design, integration, and construction teams in Birmingham when required.Making PossibleAs a Design Manager, you will be responsible for the following:Serve as the primary point of contact for the Client on all design-related matters, ensuring clear, timely, and professional communicationPrepare and deliver regular progress reports and financial updates to the client and other stakeholdersFacilitate design reviews, technical assurance meetings, and progress meetings to keep the client informed and engagedAdminister design contracts in accordance with NEC principles, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and project requirementsWork closely with the commercial team to manage contract changes, compensation events, and early warnings, maintaining accurate records and documentationLiaise with and facilitate communication between various design partners, commercial and planning teams to integrate those work streamsSupport the resolution of contractual issues and disputes, ensuring fair and timely outcomes for all parties.Lead the design process for slab track systems, coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and suppliersEnsure the design is progressing in line with the programmeTo manage the designers budget alongside the Commercial team and ensure the project runs to budgetManage the resolution of early warnings and compensation eventsPrepare minutes, notes, and reports as required to ensure effective communication and accurate records.You will work closely with both clients and project teams to identify and mitigate risksWhat do you bring to the role?Strong leadership and management skills, with a positive and collaborative approachEnthusiastic team player, able to listen, understand, engage and motivate, and with confidence to make decisions when requiredStrong working knowledge of NEC contracts and their application in major infrastructure projectsDegree qualification in civil engineering or equivalentExperience in project management, design and/or engineering management of Railway InfrastructurePreferably, knowledge of HS2 processes and standards Ability to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environmentA good commercial understanding of contracts, procurement routes and risk management.Excellent communication skills, both at the personal level and more formal reporting level.Maintaining a professional approach with clients and their professional teams, sub-contractors, and suppliersWhats in it for you?Competitive salaryA wide range of family-friendly policiesCompany car/car allowance/travel allowance8 % matched pension contributionsPrivate healthcareLife assurance26 days holiday2 wellbeing days1 volunteering dayPersonal and professional developmentAbout BAMBuilding a sustainable tomorrow.
