£85,000-£95,000 + Benefits


Overview

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a major £40m residential development in Mill Hill, London. This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role on a high-quality residential scheme, working closely with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure successful design delivery from pre-construction through to completion.


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design process, ensuring coordination, compliance, and timely delivery of all design information in line with programme requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
  • Coordinate architects, consultants, engineers, and subcontractor design teams.
  • Ensure all design information is fully coordinated, buildable, and compliant with project specifications and regulations.
  • Manage design programmes and ensure information is delivered in line with construction schedules.
  • Chair and attend design team meetings, producing minutes and tracking actions.
  • Review and manage design risk, identifying and resolving issues early in the process.
  • Work closely with project management and site teams to ensure smooth transition from design to construction.
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, planning conditions, and client requirements.
  • Manage RFIs, technical queries, and design changes effectively.
  • Support procurement by reviewing subcontractor design proposals and ensuring alignment with project requirements.


Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Coordinator on residential or mixed-use projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction detailing, buildability, and sequencing.
  • Experience delivering residential developments of similar scale (£20m–£50m+).
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and design compliance processes.
  • Ability to manage design programmes and work under tight deadlines.
  • Proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
